Cathy and Her Interview
PURPLE: Fear, Anxious
Cathy is a military veteran. She is struggling to move-on after transitioning from active duty military. Cathy is using the VA for her medical care but wonders if she is receiving all of her veteran benefits. Cathy wants to go back to school obtain her bachelor's degree and better develop herself so that she can get promoted at her current place of employment or obtain a better paying job.
Job Interview Panel - Cathy has an interview for a new job. She was told in advance that it would be a 3-member panel interview. Her potential new boss and two human resource (HR) department personnel. Cathy doesn’t like job interviews especially when she has to talk about herself. Cathy researched her boss and the HR personnel on LinkedIn prior to the interview.
Scenario: For the interview the panel members were seated behind a table and Cathy was seated in a chair in front of them. Midway in the interview her potential new boss asked, “If I told you the decision was down to you and one other candidate, what would you say to persuade me to hire you?”

RESPONSE A: I am so excited to answer this question. I have done great work in all my previous positions, you can ask anyone. I am a self-starter, I am very punctual, and reliable. You can count on me to do what ever is necessary to get the job done.

RESPONSE B: Thanks for asking this question. My job experience and results show that I am very qualified and will do an excellent job in this position. A great example of my capability is the success of a KEY project where I developed MAJOR aspects that resulted in SIGNICANT returns for may company. Hire me and you will not be disappointed with your decision.
YELLOW: Happy, Optimistic
RESPONSE C: I am very nervous and anxious right now, but I did excellent work at my previous job and I believe I am very deserving of this position.
